GEO guide
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) means making your business understandable and citable by answer engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Claude, on top of classic search engines. Here are five simple habits for professionals.
1. The same name, trade and city everywhere
Engines cross-check sources. Use exactly the same wording (“Architect in Kigali”) on your page, your social profiles and directories.
2. State your service area
Questions often look like “trade + city”. List the towns or areas where you really work.
3. Verifiable facts
Projects with place and year, simply described services, exact figures: a precise fact is easier to cite than a slogan. Only show what is true.
4. Link your other profiles
Add links to LinkedIn, GitHub, your Google Business profile or professional directories. They confirm these profiles are about the same person.
5. A factual FAQ
Short questions and direct answers (indicative rates, lead times, area, languages): answer engines reuse this format most readily.
What Portrait does for you
Every published page includes schema.org structured data, an llms.txt file, a sitemap, a share image, and IndexNow-compatible engines are notified at each publication.
What nobody can promise
No tool can guarantee a ranking or a citation: engines decide on their own. Portrait’s visibility score honestly measures what they answer, so you can see what improves.
